ENGINE FIRE
🟢 Native content
Condition

One or more of these occur: • Engine fire warning • Airframe vibrations with abnormal engine indications • Engine separation • Engine failure with smoke or fumes in the flight deck or cabin.

Checklist
  1. 01Autothrottle (if engaged) . . . Disengage
  2. 02Thrust lever (affected engine) . . . Confirm . . . Close
  3. 03Engine start lever (affected engine) . . . Confirm . . . CUTOFF
  4. 04Engine fire switch (affected engine) . . . Confirm . . . Pull (to manually unlock, press the override and pull).
  5. 05If the engine fire switch or ENG OVERHEAT light is illuminated: Engine fire switch (affected engine) . . . Rotate to the stop and hold for 1 second
  6. 06Choose one: • On the ground: ►► Engine Fire on the Ground checklist (Back Cover.2) ■■■■ • In flight: ►► step 7
  7. 07If after 30 seconds the engine fire switch or ENG OVERHEAT light stays illuminated: Engine fire switch (affected engine) . . . Rotate to the other stop and hold for 1 second
  8. 08Choose one: • High airframe vibration continues after shutdown: without delay, reduce airspeed and descend to a safe altitude resulting in an acceptable vibration level. (If high vibration returns and further reduction/descent are not practical, increasing airspeed can reduce the vibration.) ►► step 9 • High vibration does not occur/does not continue: ►► step 9
  9. 09ISOLATION VALVE switch . . . CLOSE
  10. 10PACK switch (affected side) . . . OFF (causes the operating pack to regulate to high flow in flight with flaps up).
  11. 11APU BLEED air switch . . . OFF
  12. 12Choose one: • APU available for start: APU . . . START. When running: APU GEN switch (affected side) . . . ON. ►► step 13 • APU not available: ►► step 13
  13. 13Balance fuel as needed.
  14. 14Transponder mode selector . . . TA or TA ONLY (prevents climb commands which can exceed single engine performance capability).
  15. 15ISOLATION VALVE switch (after the fire has been extinguished) . . . AUTO (ensures bleed air available to both wings if wing anti-ice is needed).
  16. 16Plan to land at the nearest suitable airport.
  17. 17►► Go to the One Engine Inoperative Landing checklist on page 7.23.
