ENGINE OVERHEAT

Condition

An overheat is detected in the engine.

Checklist
  1. 01Autothrottle (if engaged) . . . Disengage
  2. 02Thrust lever (affected engine) . . . Confirm . . . Close
  3. 03If the ENG OVERHEAT light stays illuminated: ►► Go to the ENGINE FIRE or Engine Severe Damage or Separation checklist on page 8.6 ■■■■
  4. 04If the ENG OVERHEAT light extinguishes: Run the engine at reduced thrust to keep the light extinguished.
  5. 05Transponder mode selector . . . TA or TA ONLY (prevents climb commands which can exceed reduced thrust performance capability).
  6. 06Plan to land at the nearest suitable airport.
